Spooky Fun!

Throw a spooky fun Halloween party this year that the neighborhood kids will love. Or, if you’re in charge of organizing a school Halloween fest, use these ideas to make it the best one ever.

Halloween Candy Hunt

Why stop the fun in April? Keep the fun going all the way into Halloween by hosting a Halloween Egg Hunt! Kids love it and the concept is still the exact same.

You can hide orange plastic eggs with candy inside or you can put the candy in small bags or just on its own.

Hide the candy gifts all over the yard or inside. Just make sure you leave some out where the younger kids can easily find them. That way everyone gets to have fun.

When all the eggs are found, refill and hide again or move on to the next game!

Eyeball Bounce

Ping pong balls can look eerily like eyeballs if you draw on a pupil and some red bloodshot veins.

Have all the kids take turn bouncing the ping pong balls into buckets or a kiddie pool filled with apples.

Give them a special prize or treat for the number of times they make it into the pool. Or make it a competition and see who can get the most in the bucket/pool in a certain amount of time.

Bobbing for Apples

Use the clean kiddie pool from above filled with apples and have kids bob for them. You can also have them bob for Peeps in the shape of cats or pumpkins. Or you can even have them bob for small gourds that they can easily grasp in their mouths. Just make sure everything is clean.

Musical Chairs—Spooky Style

Turn musical chairs into a spooky good time. Use chairs decorated with cob webs and plastic spiders. Have one less than the amount of people you have playing. Play scary or funny Halloween music and when it stops the person who’s left without a chair is out. You can also play this game by having children pass small gourds or pumpkins between them. The one who is left without a pumpkin when the music stops is out. Make it fun to be out by offering a Halloween cookie or the option to help run the music so that no one feels sad about being ousted.

Guess How Many

You can fill a jar with anything you like from Halloween M&Ms to Hershey Kisses or candy corn and have people cast their guesses of how many they are. The person who comes closest wins the jar of Halloween candy.

Just make sure everyone writes down their guess along with their name so everyone has an equal chance of winning.

Halloween Cupcakes

Obstacle Course

If you have a yard outside it is fun to have a nighttime obstacle course. Make it simple enough so kids don’t get hurt, but fun enough so it’s challenging. Use flashlights or battery lanterns to light the path. Then have bails of hay for kids to jump over, skeletons to “repair” by putting bones back in the right place and more.

Dress the Scarecrow

Have two scarecrows made up out of hay and provide flannel shirts, jeans, shoes, and hat.

Have two kids race at a time to see who can dress their scarecrow the fastest.

This is a blast the more clothes you include in the race.

Black Cat Bingo

Make up Bingo cards in the shape of black cats.

Use black construction paper to cut out the shapes. Glue on Bingo boards from a dollar store.

Chips can be anything from candy corn or Hershey Kisses or M&Ms.

Call the numbers and have kids play a Halloween version of Bingo.

I love the eyeball bounce!! Great for kids of any age :-) We used to play a game when we were kids, the parent would put food like spaghetti or crushed up crackers inside a brown paper bag, then we had to put our hand inside and guess what it was (brains, intestines, broken bones, etc). Some kids wouldn't do it!
