Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Christmas is such a magical time of year and its even so much more so when you have a Christmas wedding to look forward to! How exciting and dazzling everything will look against the backdrop of strings of lights and glistening pines. Snow covered landscapes just naturally lend themselves to a celebration of joy and hope.
If you are looking for more ideas when it comes to decorating your Christmas or winter wedding, you've come to the right place. Here is some inspiration to get you started!
Incorporate Holiday Cheer
Your wedding will be graced by all the cheer and goodwill that’s already in the air. You just need to do a little planning to incorporate the jolly season into your festivities.
A Winter wedding can incorporate as much Christmas—or as little—as you like. You may love Santa and reindeer. Or you may just want a few Christmas lights to set the scene.
Do as much with the theme as you feel comfortable with. And can any Christmas ever be too Christmassy? Of course not! You can’t overdo Christmas.

Decorate with Candles
Start with candles. Everyone loves a candlelit wedding. Even if you aren’t marrying or having your reception at night, you can still include candles.
Today’s flameless candles are the perfect addition to your wedding décor as they can’t catch anything on fire and you don’t have to worry about them. They have come down in price enough so that you can get loads of them and still stick within your budget.
You can light up an inn or a ballroom with faux candles that actually flicker and give off warm light just like real candles. Being cost-friendly and much less of a hazard than real candles, these are becoming very popular.

Let it Snow
Decide on a theme or color scheme. Love snowmen? Go with whites and blues. Then you can incorporate all the snowmen you like and set them against blue velvet or satin. It will look like a true winter wonderland.
If you have a penchant for antique Santas, fill your reception with images of vintage Santas on napkins, dishes, and favors.
You can create tablescapes that incorporate Santa in his various poses in lively figurines. Scatter some shining Christmas ornaments and balls in the mix and you’ve got yourself a centerpiece that cost you barely anything.
Inspired Attire
You’ll of course want to dress the part. Who says you can’t wear a red dress with white fur accents? Wear a white faux fur wrap and put diamond combs or a tiara in your hair.
Your groom can wear accents of red in a handkerchief and cummerbund. Red can accent your tables in the form of linen napkins or sheer table toppers.
Use red charger plates under white plates for a crisp look.
Greenery
Go all out with your Christmas wedding. The more touches of greenery, holly, pine, and mistletoe you add, the better. You can even have tiny trees atop each table and raffle them off at the end of the reception for guests to take home as your wedding Christmas favors.
Looking for more centerpiece ideas? Wrap up some inexpensive holiday gifts to stack beautifully in the center of tables. At the end of the night, encourage guests to open them up and take them home. It'll add a fun little touch to the end of your night.
Christmas Lights
Lights should be low. Hang strands of white or colored Christmas lights throughout the reception.
Use faux snow or white faux mink or fur to adorn surfaces like the guest book table and the head table.
Wrap white velvet around candelabras or statuary. Think romance and joy.
Winter Misc.
Have stars in gold or silver or faux or real birds in cages to create a mystical feel. Have Christmas carols at the reception for people to sing along to. What you bring into the Christmas theme can be as unique as you and your fiancé are. It’s your day to dazzle, so do it up big time.

My husband and I got married 4 days after Christmas. I loved having a wedding this time of year and wouldn't trade it for anything. We enjoyed the free Christmas decorations in the church and reception hall, a definite bonus! Our colors and reception favors were Christmas themed, too.

Love the inspiration boards. I'd be more likely to get married at xmas if I lived further south. It is pretty darn cold in Minnesota right now and it isn't even December yet :)
